London, UK – June 2, 2021 – Warringtonfire, part of the Element Group, is now a registered signatory of the Building a Safer Future Charter.

The charter was created to promote an urgent and positive change in culture and behavior around safety in the built environment industry. The aim is to put safety first in the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of buildings to protect the people that use them.

Building a Safer Future is an independent, not-for-profit organization creating a collaborative community to drive development and new practices through industry experience and learnings.

Organizations can join Warringtonfire in becoming registered signatories of the charter and in turn confirm their commitment to driving cultural change; demonstrating support for the charter’s vision to all colleagues, customers, stakeholders and the supply chain; and contributing to development by submitting to, and using, the resources in the charter’s Learning and Excellence Hub.

Rob Veitch, EVP of Fire & Building Products at Element, said: “As a registered signatory, we are confirming our commitment to ensuring we embed the principles of the Building a Safer Future Charter into Warringtonfire’s activities. These align perfectly with our own principles, namely to work towards developing safer buildings by focusing on raising standards of quality and competency in the supply chain.”

The Building a Safer Future Charter seeks to:

Create an online community for sharing good practice on building safety where relevant examples, case studies and other resources are signposted through a Learning & Excellence Hub.
Implement an engagement portal for anyone (public, resident, other building users, those working across the built environment) to raise building safety concerns in relation to projects registered and verified with the charter.
Work closely with, and learn from, the ‘Responsible Care’ approach to benchmarking that was adopted by the chemical industry.

With locations across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australia, Warringtonfire exists to help make certain that the materials, products and processes it tests, inspects and certifies for its customers are safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
