Michael is a Product Assessor within the Reaction to Fire testing team, producing classification and extended application reports and supporting clients from quotation through to reporting.

Experience

Michael joined Warringtonfire in 2021, bringing with him nine years of experience at the Building Research Establishment (BRE), where he worked across a broad range of fire testing activities.

Since joining Warringtonfire, Michael has continued to expand his expertise across different areas of the fire testing industry, including the rail sector. As a member of the Reaction to Fire team, he supports and guides clients throughout the testing process, from the quotation stage through to reporting. Michael works on classification and extended application reports for construction and roof products and produces summary test reports that help clients understand their results and testing requirements.

Career Highlights

Prior to joining Warringtonfire, Michael played a key role in setting up the Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) test apparatus, supporting progress against updated rail fire testing standards.

Since joining Warringtonfire, Michael has completed his Level 3 qualification in Passive Fire Protection from the Institution of Fire Engineers. This has significantly broadened his knowledge of fire resistance and has given him a deeper appreciation of the full fire testing process.

Two aspects Michael values most in his role are the strong sense of accomplishment that comes from successfully completing complex extended application processes, and the collaborative support he receives from his team members.

Bsc Chemistry degree from Durham University.
