Fire testing
Our testing services include:
Fire resistance testing - these tests determine the likely behaviour of an element of construction when subjected to a fully developed fire and are specified in codes and regulations in both the building and transport sectors.
We can test doors, walls, floors, beams, columns and ceilings.
Reaction to fire testing - these tests evaluate the contribution of material to fire growth. They are smaller in scale and are used on specific components or materials and are specified in codes and regulations in both the building and transport sectors.
We can test samples of material that may be exposed to a growing fire such as room contents, furniture, wall and ceiling linings.
Fire assessments
Warringtonfire’s technical fire assessments range from simple judgements on changes to a product, construction or design, to detailed and complex engineering analyses of large, sophisticated building systems. Technical fire assessments look at the performance of the product, construction, material, or system that would be expected if it were to be subjected to fire testing.
We have a dedicated technical fire assessments team who work closely with the testing laboratory to design a program that is aimed at minimising testing and maximising the application of each test to cover the maximum number of products and variations.
The team can also provide a fire assessment report, that is accepted as evidence of suitability, the report extends the coverage of the existing fire test evidence contained within the fire test reports, saving you both valuable time and money.
At Warringtonfire, our reaction to fire testing includes:
- AS ISO 9705 - room burn test.
- AS 3837 / ISO 5660-1 - rate of heat and smoke release from building products
- AS 5113 - external walls of buildings, fire testing for facades.
- AS 1530.1 - combustibility testing.
- AS 1530.2 - test for flammability of materials such as sarking or drapery.
- AS 1530.3 - simultaneous determination of ignitability, flame propagation, heat release and smoke release for fixed seating, proscenium curtains, insulation, duct work, and other materials.
- ISO 1716 - determination of the gross heat of combustion (calorific value) – bomb calorimeter.
- AS/NZS 3013 - fire and mechanical performance of wiring system elements.
- AS/NZS 3837 - cone calorimetry testing
- AS ISO 9239 - determination of the burning behaviour using a radiant heat source – critical radiant flux (CRF) for floor linings and coverings.
