Engaged Expert

Dennis Tuyogon

A chartered chemist with 15+ years of experience across chemistry, research, quality management, and academia, Dennis applies rigorous scientific expertise to fire chemistry, smoke toxicity, and emissions analysis at Warringtonfire.

Experience

Dennis didn't arrive at fire chemistry through a single straight path and that's exactly what makes him effective. With more than 15 years of experience spanning analytical chemistry, environmental science, materials science, quality management, research, and academia, he brings a depth and versatility to Warringtonfire that goes well beyond a single discipline.

As Lead Analytical Chemist based at our Holmesfield Road site, he applies that broad scientific foundation to some of the more technically demanding work in fire testing, including smoke and toxicity analysis, fire effluent characterisation, and emissions monitoring during large-scale fire resistance testing. Whether it's ensuring the reliability of analytical data used in product certification, overseeing technical governance of laboratory methods, or working alongside certification and commercial teams to improve testing processes, Dennis connects rigorous science with real-world outcomes.

Driven by his enthusiasm for closer industry collaboration, he played a key role in Warringtonfire’s move to affiliate membership of the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB), broadening Warringtonfire’s access to sector wide research and technical guidance.

Career Highlights

A Chartered Chemist (CChem) with dual PhDs in Environmental Chemistry, Dennis has worked across an unusually wide range of chemistry environments – from university research labs and factory floors to quality systems, commercial settings, and higher education. Since moving into fire testing, he has focused on building technical governance and analytical quality within the laboratory, ensuring that the data clients rely on for certification decisions is both defensible and precise. He collaborates regularly with manufacturers, engineers, and fire safety professionals, translating complex combustion chemistry and emissions analysis into clear, actionable insights. Beyond the lab, Dennis contributes to BSI technical committees FSH 16 and FSH 19, helping shape fire safety standards and industry best practice, and plays an active role in thought leadership and client engagement to make fire chemistry accessible to specialist and non-specialist audiences alike.
