The Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government James Brokenshire made a statement to the House on Wednesday 18 December regarding the publication of the government’s intentions regarding the implementation of the Hackitt Review (Building a Safer Future).  Details of the statement can be accessed here

In summary, the government is implementing all of Dame Judith Hackitt’s recommendations, but with some subtle changes of detail. The full 64-page Implementation Plan is here

The government has also now formally responded to the Consultation on Amendments to Statutory Guidance on Assessments in Lieu of Tests in Approved Document B. This response can be accessed here. An Impact Assessment has also been produced which can be accessed here.

We are continuing to work closely with the MHCLG to seek further clarification on the points made in the Government’s Response to the Consultation on Amendments to Statutory Guidance on Assessments in Lieu of Tests in Approved Document B and in the Impact Assessment.

We will provide you with a further update as soon as we have received this clarification from the MHCLG.
