Steve Hankey is General Manager of Warringtonfire's Birchwood testing facility, leading a large team of specialists delivering fire resistance and passive fire protection testing.
Experience
During over 30 years at Warringtonfire, Steve has progressed from Laboratory Technician through to Technical Officer, Technical Consultant and Operations roles to General Manager, the position he holds today, overseeing Warringtonfire's state-of-the-art Birchwood testing facility.
Steve is a technical expert across a wide range of product segments and performance characteristics. These span fire resistance testing of timber, steel and composite doorsets; structural steelwork protection; glazing systems; partition assemblies; dampers and ductwork; firestopping systems; and smoke leakage testing.
Career Highlights
As General Manager of Warringtonfire Birchwood, Steve leads one of the UK's most advanced fire testing facilities, overseeing the day-to-day operations that deliver fire resistance, and smoke leakage testing to clients across the passive fire protection industry.
Steve has also gained a strong understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 through leading Warringtonfire's Warrington-based testing operations and managing a team of 90+ colleagues. This includes driving significant project management changes and implementing extensions to testing scopes and other CAPEX projects supporting the Warringtonfire testing operation.
